New Delhi | Capital of the Largest Democracy in the World

Delhi Airport
Delhi really cleaned up for the 2010 Commonwealth Games

'Tis the season for weddings: Delhi saw 1 million weddings in ONE day alone.

India Gate

Man on stilts at Delhi Haat

Pretty wall hangings
Door knobs (100 Rupees - roughly $2.30). Compare this to Anthropologie's ($42).

Rosie, you would have LOVED this.

Rashtrapati Bhavan: Such a large house for a very small President.

Rajasthan | The land of my ancestors (and lots of goats)

Water chestnuts!
Bus stop at Shivgunj
Chai and conversation

Pretty temple in Pindwara

Camel!
For years, I have tried to capture this exact photo: typical Rajasthani goat herder and his goats!
Share the road?
Yes, this is a herd of goats crossing a highway.
"Maaro photo paado?" This guy asked if I would take his picture (I didn't have the heart to tell him I was only after his goats...)

Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur beautifully lit up for Prince Shivraj Singh's wedding.

A tribute to the First Lady's style.

Mukesh Ambani's ... house. Worth $2 billion. BILLION. Think of all the great things that could be done with that money.

Taj Mahal Hotel, Bombay. The Obamas rented out the entire hotel during their stay and brought in their own staff. Ninety percent of the hotel's staff was given a paid vacation. Also the site of the 26-11 terrorist attack two years ago.

Kolkata | The Festival of Light

Beautiful net sari

Lengha-type sari

At Rangoli: saris for days.

We went to Sejuti's boutique/workshop to check out her collection

Nikku: My first time French braiding anyone's hair!!!

India's classic car: The Ambassador

Playtime with a sleepy Monk!

The Grand Finale: This one was supposed to have 50 fireworks in one. Only 20 or so actually went off. So after the parents went to bed after a long Diwali, we kids decided to set the thing on fire -- best/worst decision ever. Fireworks shot out in every direction; one nearly missed my leg. So. Much. Fun.

Anaar made at the Dave factory!

Every house on the block had pretty lights for Diwali

Nutella & Friends in India: We kicked the moms out of the kitchen and made a midnight snack :)

I wouldn't be able to drive this truck with all the decorations

Dudes just hanging out on the corner

Diwali mehndi

Balu's beautiful rangoli at the house entrance
